Trust - April 01 2006

Trust is an interesting word. When referring to relationships, we think of trust as the other party not "cheating"...but there are other ways to betray trust.

When we trust someone, it includes trusting them with our feelings. Allowing the other person to know our thoughts and the way we feel about everything.

Have you ever bared your soul to someone just to have them pass it off as if it were nothing? Think about how it makes you feel. To me, that is a betrayal of trust. They trusted you with your innermost thoughts and it was tossed aside as though it meant nothing. Even if something isn't important to you, it should be if it is important to the one you love.

And in case you are wondering, Russ has always listened to me when I talk to him about things that mean something to me. He never tosses me aside but treats everything I say as important. I never realized how much I would appreciate that until I met him. It makes me wonder if perhaps in the past I've done that to another. Think about it and realize that anything important to the one talking to you should be important to you. After all, they "trusted" you with it.
